Wife recoils at behavior of husband's overbearing boy mom at their wedding: 'She told everyone she didn't want to be at the wedding, but had to be'

It's no crime for parents to love their kids but it is well-documented that sometimes, the ways in which this is done way oversteps the mark of acceptability. There are many families that have weird dynamics because parents can't accept that their children have increasing levels of independence when they grow up, and a life that doesn't completely revolve around mom and dad. 

Perhaps one of the worst cultural phenomena related to this dynamic is boy moms, those mothers who develop an unusually close and protective relationship with their sons and throw a tantrum whenever they think that this special relationship is going to be threatened. These kinds of moms often don't take well to their sons bonding with anybody but them at any age, but the girlfriends and wives that appear as they get older are often a big trigger for them. In boy mom world, there can only be one important woman in the life of a son.

  • One woman shared a particularly egregious example of this that she had had to deal with in the form of her mother-in-law. Revealing how her soon-to-be husband's mom had caused drama and made a scene before and during their wedding, the behavior on display was most definitely several degrees removed from normal.
